So as part of my Friday Favorites series, I wanted to go through some of my favorite photography & wedding day accessories! This week, I thought I’d start with one of my favorite accessories, shoes! (Insert heart-eyed emoji here!) Before recently, I simply wore flats or boots to shoot weddings, which are typically 8-10 hour days with only a few minutes to sit (if at all sometimes) during the reception. I’m constantly moving, crouching, and running around, so I thought that extremely sore, tired feet were just part of the job! If it were acceptable, I’d totally be wearing my Merrell hiking books (SO comfy – I highly recommend for fellow backpackers!) but, they clearly aren’t wedding-appropriate. So, when I heard about the wonderfulness of Tieks flats (and conveniently was given a coupon around the same time), I just had to try them out. I’ve heard such great reviews by other photographers and wedding professionals, so I had high expectations – especially because the price tag is a little pricier than what I normally spend on flats!
Well after several days of hard use, I must say these bad boys are AWESOME. Their signature blue soles aren’t just adorable – they’re like mini shock absorbers! You can feel the cushion in those problem areas in every step, where normally, at the end of a wedding, my feet would be burning. Perfect placement! And the soft leather prevents rubbing and blisters. They seriously don’t feel like flats!
Not only are they incredibly comfortable, they’re so versitile. They’re super easy to pack and carry, and they come with a sweet teal bag and a little pouch for transporting them. And they also come in So. Many. Colors. Seriously! I went with a classic ballet pink that would match with anything, but I’m really eyeing up the lavender, mint, burgundy, and leopard print.
The presentation of these great shoes was awesome as well. A sweet teal box wrapped with an adorable floral accent and a handwritten note just made me super excited to try out my Tieks! That excitement and the feeling you get when opening the package feels like you’re getting a gift! And that, my friends, is good marketing! Haha!
But in all seriousness, I love these shoes. I have nothing bad to say about them except that it hurt my wallet a little, but I have no doubt that they will be worth it when I have double header wedding weekends, that’s for sure! And I’m super excited to see how they hold up while I’m traveling – if all goes well with these bad boys during wedding season, I plan on buying another pair to wear on my trips to New Zealand and Italy next year! 🙂
