This morning, I woke up and got exciting news! Work is closed and I have a snow day! This is awesome considering I’m leaving for Disney World tomorrow – and have not packed one bit.  Oops. So, I had a lazy morning with my boyfriend, eating pancakes, sipping coffee, and browsing through Facebook and Instagram. As I was browsing, I came across a Tech Talk Tuesday blog post from Natalie Franke (an amazing wedding photographer and mentor!) about photographing engagement/wedding rings. This is something I haven’t had a lot of practice with, and after reading her blog post full of awesome tips and tricks, I suddenly knew how I was gonna start off the day! I haven’t had a lot of chances to take pictures simply for pleasure lately, so this was a lot of fun and also great practice. You’ll find a list of all the household objects I used to create these photos at the bottom of this post.

I hope you enjoy looking at these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!

PS: I WISH this were a real diamond!  Gotta love costume jewelry! 🙂

Thanks Marigold & Grey for the burlap bag seen below! It was an adorable part of the November Bayside Workshop welcome gifts.

Love the effect I got by using some leftover tinsel from Christmas!

Pillows, scarves, and blankets make awesome backdrops too!

Pair a diamond with a sparkly coach clutch – it doesn’t get more glamorous than that!

Of course I had to combine two of my loves…jewelry and photography!  My vintage Busch Pressman Model C 3×5 Camera made a great prop!

This set reminds me of Tiffany’s!

I loved this backdrop so much I photographed one of my Christmas presents on it too – a beautiful Pandora ring from my lovely boyfriend Mark!

Practiced with a pair of mint pumps as well.

One of my favorite antique silver trays is definitely a go-to backdrop. I bring it to a lot of my weddings to photograph details!
