Welcome to a new blog series I’m starting, where on Mondays I will be recapping the shoots and adventures I’ve had!  I decided to start this week because this past weekend really started off the spring season for me – and it was also extra long! Despite having a cold, it was super busy and super fun!

My weekend started on Wednesday with a funeral for my sweet grandmother (RIP Dolly Thommen!) and then my boyfriend Mark and I set off for a 2-day trip to NYC!  It was much needed after an emotional start to the week.  Last November, Mark had told me about a theater in California that would be playing the 3 Lord of the Rings movies with a live symphony orchestra & choir on 3 different nights.  Mark is a huge LOTR fan (and I must admit-he’s made one out of me, too!) so I thought this would be the PERFECT Christmas gift! After looking up the tickets, I realized it was just too expensive and out of my reach.  But, soon after, Mark found that they would play the same show in New York the week before!  He looked up ticket prices and decided they were also too expensive – and almost completely sold out.  But what he didn’t know was that I had gone online and purchased 2 tickets for the first 2 movies for both of us to go see!  NYC is much cheaper and easier to get to – so I figured why not!  Unfortunately the 3rd movie was completely sold out, but I knew he’d be happy anyway.  So on Christmas Day, he was utterly shocked to find the tickets wrapped up from me!  Anyway, we saw the shows (LOVED THEM!) and even met some of the choir members who were staying in our hotel.  The 21st Symphony Orchestra is based out of Switzerland, and they are incredible!  You can see their website here!

David H. Koch Theater was beautiful – check out the rhinestone-esque lights everywhere!

We paid a visit to the very emotional 9/11 Memorial and Museum

If you’re looking for somewhere interesting to eat and shop in NYC, you have to go to the Chelsea Market!! It was so cute and the shops were amazing!

We wandered a bit more; ate in some great restaurants and visited Rockafeller Center & Central Park before heading home.

On Saturday, Mark and I made the trek down to Fredericksburg, VA for a sweetheart session with Jessica Green Photography!  Jessica had posted a contest for a couples session a while back, and Mark and I won!  We were so excited to visit downtown Fredericksburg since neither of us had been there before.  I love how quaint and sweet it was – and I will certainly be coming back to hit up those antique shops!  I’m excited to be back down that way next week for Jessica’s photography workshop!

It was such a pleasure working with Jessica and I’m so honored that she was the one to take the first professional photos of us!  After 4 years of dating, its time for some nice photos to hang on our walls.  I love these sneak peeks and can’t wait to see more!

After our session, we hit up a local Mexican restaurant where Mark indulged in some Horchata!

Sunday morning, I met up with Emily & Jeff for a maternity session.  The last time these two were in front of my camera was for their wedding at the Rusty Scupper last year!   We headed to Patapsco State Park and wandered around the pretty grounds and boy were we blessed with perfect weather! It was so nice out! I had an amazing time catching up with this sweet couple and I can’t wait to share more of their photos.  Baby Jacob is going to be one loved lil fella!

I ended my weekend with another session on Sunday, this time with Bride and Groom-to-be Amanda and Ryan.  We met up at University of MD College Park and had so much fun reminiscing about college life and talking about their upcoming Aberdeen wedding!  How gorgeous are these two?? And how pretty is UMD’s campus right now? LOVE!

Thanks for reading this super long post!  I hope you all had an amazing weekend too!
